Volume 8: Don't Let Their Best Hitter Beat You!

 

 

 

As a confident pitcher you should believe you can get anyone out! The numbers tell us that a great pitcher should be able to beat a great hitter about 70% of the time. We’ve always asked our pitchers to attack the zone and I still think that is a great strategy.

 

Except if your opponent has one hitter that is a total game-changing hitter. Then avoiding her is a better strategy, assuming that walking her will not lose you the game! Does that always mean an intentional walk? No, but the unintentional intentional walk, giving her the illusion that you are pitching to her, is a great idea.
