10 Things Players Need To Know: Be Confident

Confidence is one of the big keys for any athlete. But what is confidence?
Most of my life has been consumed by being an athlete but now I’ve been given the opportunity to teach other athletes this great game, as a college softball coach. On my journey, I’ve learned many things that can benefit ball players at any level. This series is just a few of the things that have helped me as an athlete and also as a coach.

Be confident
Confidence is key to success at any level. This doesn’t mean you believe you’re better than others, but it means you believe in yourself as an athlete. Knowing that you’ve prepared yourself for a situation on the field is what gives you the confidence needed at the college level.

If you’ve taken the reps at practice, you can feel confident in your ability during the game. Coaches can see this confidence. There is a difference between knowing you can make a play, and hoping you make a play.
